One of Maharashtra’s most horrifying criminal case — the Joshi-Abhyankar serial murders, Pune — is today wrongly linked to retired Bombay High Court judge B. G. Kolse Patil. His Wikipedia page falsely claimed he prosecuted this case. This is factually incorrect.
🧾 The Truth:
The official Special Public Prosecutor was Advocate Shamrao Samant, appointed by the State Government. Justice Kolse Patil had no role in the trial — neither as lawyer nor judge.
This has now been corrected on Wikipedia, and public record has been set right.

⚖️ Why This Matters:
Falsely claiming credit for a historic case misleads the public, disrespects genuine contributors, and undermines truth in public life.
Justice Kolse Patil, during his short judicial tenure (1985–1988), public need to know how many Single Judge judgments except few has delivered by him and he even admitted in the press that fellow judges avoided sitting with him. As per source info only Justice P. B. Samant used to sit with him in Division Bench and after Justice Shri Samant elevated to Supreme Court, slowly Justice Shri Kolse Patil resigned from High Court Judgeship. Even as per the source he was a Congressman and was appointed as Public Prosecutor by Government at Pune. And as per the source though he has not appeared in the High Court was appointed as the High Court Judge at that time. Even to our shock he weekly used to write as a High Court sitting Judge in Marathi Newspaper some weekly article titled ,””सप्तIअंत क्रांतिकारक” (Saptayant Krantikarak”) at that time even Chief Justice of the High Court had not taken Judicial Note of his such acts of being associated with Press. Then he resigned and later on built a public image as a people’s activist? — often blurring facts.
