Dear Friends,
The Bar Association election has been conducted in a joyful atmosphere. Although everything appears smooth on the surface, as an electoral candidate I have observed that, in reality, voters are expected to exercise complete independence and discretion while voting — but that does not always happen.
I noticed that nearly 70% of the voters, while standing at the polling booth, cast their votes strictly according to the “lists” already circulated to them on their mobile phones. In doing so, they often fail to consider the honesty, integrity, and capability of the candidates standing for election.
Because of such an attitude, deserving and upright candidates hesitate to contest, and even if they do, they rarely win.
Think about it — the very same voters who bargain several times with a vegetable vendor over a ₹20 bunch of coriander, do not bother to use their own judgment when it comes to casting a vote that decides the future of their own association and society at large.
This careless voting behaviour results in corrupt, criminal-minded, and fear-spreading individuals being elected to positions of influence.
Look around — today, an ordinary person can no longer live with dignity as a true human being. This is the unfortunate reality.
Thank you — by voting, you have still contributed towards giving a new direction.
